**OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On December 21, 2019 at approximately 6:11 p.m., members of the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 101 in the City of Timmins.

 

Further investigation revealed the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

 

As a result, William QUACHEGAN, 49 years old, of Timmins, Ontario has been charged with the following:

 

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) and,
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.

 

The driver was served a 90 day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

 

The accused was released on an Undertaking Form 10 and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 28, 2020 in Timmins, Ontario.

 

The OPP is reminding drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving.
