**NCDSB NEWS RELEASE**

As you are aware, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) is in
a legal strike position. Effective Monday, January 13, 2020 OECTA has announced
that members across the province will be taking administrative job action, if an
agreement is not reached by that date.

This job action will affect Ministry of
Education and/or school board initiatives only, and it is not intended to have direct
impact on student learning.

Tricia Stefanic Weltz, Director of Education, commented, “At this time, we can
confirm that students of the Northeastern Catholic District School Board will be in
school next week. Should there be any changes or further job action, our school
communities and stakeholders will be kept informed. The Board website is the best
place for our families to refer to, for public announcements and updates regarding
the labour disruption.

As well, we will endeavour to send our families more
information through our telephone messenger system.
We offer our prayers that OECTA and the government are able to reach a fast, fair
and respectful collective agreement.”
