**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the afternoon hours of Saturday, February 1st at a Timmins grocery store.

The suspect was observed engaged in suspicious activity while within the grocery store and asked to leave. Upon leaving, the suspect attempted to conceal unpurchased items on his person.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers identified, located and arrested the subject a short distance from the original scene and took him into custody.

A quantity of a controlled substance was found on his person during the arrest procedure.

As a result of the incidents, Andrew WESLEY, 40, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:
– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
