It’s more of a roller coaster season now than it was when we had reached the mid season point. The Timmins Rock, are sitting at the top of the NOJHL once again after they pulled off back to back wins against the Cochrane Crunch and the Espanola Express.

The Rock, took a tough 3-2 loss to the Voodoos last week prior to their two game road trip, and if there is one thing that every team knows by now is that, when the Rock suffer a loss they bounce back and make the life of their following opponents miserable.

Well, the Crunch fell victim to a classic “Timmins Rock bounce back”. The Rock cruised passed the Crunch and took a 6-2 win on Friday February 7.

The Rock then traveled to Espanola to face the Express, which was the final time they would meet a western division team this season. Heading into that game, the Rock knew they had a chance to reclaim first place because, the Powassan Voodoos lost 3-2 to the Crunch in regulation on Saturday.

The game against the Express, didn’t start the way the Rock would have hoped as they went down 1-0 in the early moments of the game. However, that was the only goal the Rock would allow… The Rock went on to win 7-1! That win gives the Rock a 13-1 record against the western division teams this season. The only team from the west division they lost to was the SOO Thunderbirds.

The goal scorers for the Rock in that game were: Owen Shier (2), Phil Caron, Karter Renouf, Josh Dickson (2), and Zach Smith.

Statistically the Rock, had a dominant two game road trip. They out scored their opponents 13-3 and out shot them 91-50! That’s not the best part… The Rock also managed to break a franchise regular season points record, they now have 78 and still have seven regular season games remaining!

The Rock, will play three of their seven remaining games at home and the other four will be on the road which, can be a challenge, but they are fully capable of winning all of them.

Here’s what’s lined up this week: Game against the Crunch at the Mac tomorrow at 7:30pm, Game against the Powassan Vooodoos on Friday February 14 in Powassan, and a game on Saturday against the French River Rapids in French River. Tickets for the game at the Mac against the Crunch tomorrow night are available online at TimminsRock.Com.
