**MATTAGAMI REGION CONSERVATION AUTHORITY NEWS RELEASE**

The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee reports that with the arrival of
warmer temperatures, the spring melt is getting underway.

As a result, there may be an increased water safety risk throughout the Timmins area including Porcupine Lake,
Mattagami River, Town Creek, Porcupine River and Crawford Creek.

Water levels in local rivers, creeks and lakes are currently in the normal range and
flooding is not anticipated at this time, but it is still early and conditions are subject to
change. As the melt continues, local rivers, streams and the flood control channels will
experience a rise in water levels and flows.

The Committee will continue to monitor the
situation on a daily basis and will issue updates as more information is made available,
or if water conditions change. City residents are cautioned against venturing out on lakes, rivers and small streams
where slippery stream banks, thin ice, dangerous currents and fast moving cold water
will make all waterways very hazardous. Parents especially, are urged to warn their
children of these dangers.

Residents can visit the MRCA website at www.mattagamiregion.ca for the latest
information on watershed conditions and public advisories.
