**PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT**

DAILY COVID-19 UPDATE FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 2020

There have been no new positive cases in the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) area since May 10, 2020. The total number of confirmed positive cases is 65, 1 of which remains active. For more information, see phu.fyi/coronavirus.

Yesterday, the Ontario government announced the gradual resumption of visits to long-term care homes, retirement homes, and other residential care settings, starting on June 18, 2020. (https://bit.ly/2B5Tkwk)

Today, the emergency orders expand social gatherings to no more than ten people. It is critical to continue practicing the preventative measures that have allowed us to get here. Be mindful when considering visiting with others outside your household. If you have symptoms, please stay home. Maintain a physical distance of 2 m and wear a mask or face covering when this is challenging; wash your hands, practice cough/sneeze etiquette; do not touch your face; and clean commonly touched surfaces. Avoid close contact with others who are not part of your household. Close contact includes things like hugs, sitting right beside each other and sharing food with others.

Following these precautions, even in small gatherings, is critical to protect each other and ourselves. It is a shared responsibility; we all play a role!

If you have symptoms, call to get tested. Our COVID-19 Information line is open today from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call the toll-free number, 1-800-461-1818, or the PHU office in your community. See phu.fyi/offices for local contact numbers.

Stay home if you have symptoms. Stay safe.
