Rage Against The Machine turned the music industry on its head on November 3rd, 1992 when they released their self-titled debut album

The world had never heard hip hop and rock infused like what Rage was putting out. Sure Aerosmith and RUN DMC had “Walk This Way”, Anthrax & Public Enemy experimented, and maybe the best known, the Beastie Boys had their unique blend of hip hop and rock, but Rage Against The Machine were different. Maybe the aforementioned collabs and artists had an influence on Rage Against The Machine, but when their debut album came out in 1992, it was clearly on its own path. In addition to the new musical fusion, the band had something to say in their songs as well that had an equal impact. Culture, political, anti-rasicm, it was clear the band stood for something.

The album peaked at number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 45 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has gone on to achieve triple platinum sales certification in the U.S. We’re not sure the band cares about that as much as how far spread their message went after its release.

Rage played the mainstage the following summer on the Lollapalooza 1993 tour further cementing their position as one of the greatest bands to come out of the 90s.
