A robot breakthrough could help get your favourite beers to store shelves faster. Scientists in the Czech Republic have created “BeerBots” which can speed up the process of fermentation.

Fermentation takes up to a month, but small BeerBots produce and release carbon dioxide as they travel up and down the solution. This process speeds up the fermentation of sugar. When there’s no more sugar to ferment, the bots sink to the bottom of the beer container, and a magnet can be used to “scoop” them up.

The two-millimetre-wide Beerbots are made with yeast, iron oxide, and sodium alginate. (Study Finds)
