It might be time to look at other options to receive that next bill.

That’s because Canada Post workers could be locked out if a new contract isn’t signed by Saturday.  Workers have been without a contract since the end of January.

National President Mike Pelacek says Canada Post has to give them 72 hour notice before a lockout, and that notice hasn’t been given yet.

He says during a lockout, nobody will be able to send letters or parcels, and many companies have already sent out warnings to customers that bills may not arrive in the mail in a timely manner.

The union asked to extend the lockout deadline by two weeks, but Canada Post denied the request.

Canada Post is looking to change benefits for new workers, while the union wants expansion of services and better pay for rural carriers and women carriers.
