Kayak Challenge

One thing that defines a successful festival is the amount of community support it receives, and The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival can easily measure this success over eight years.
At a media conference today, organizers of the festival put their supporters in the spotlight, showing great appreciation for the contributions helping to keep the event afloat.
“The City of Timmins is extremely fortunate to have such amazing corporate citizens, who not only contribute financially to our community, but also show great support by getting involved,” said Mayor Steve Black. “This year the festival will also serve to recognize Kidd Operations’ 50th anniversary.”
In celebration of this milestone, Kidd Operations will offer a historical pavilion for the public. Kidd has also partnered with their major suppliers to offer some additional festival enhancements for the community.
“It isn’t every day that a mining operation reaches a 50th anniversary and it is a great cause for celebration,” said David Yaschyshyn, co-chair, Kidd Operations 50th Anniversary Committee. “Taking part in the 8th Annual Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival provides Kidd with an excellent opportunity to celebrate with our employees, their families and the entire community over a fun and exciting three days. We would like to especially thank Levert Group for helping us celebrate in grand style by sponsoring the festival fireworks, Bull Powertrain and Driveline Centre for expanding the children’s programming into the Kiddzone, and Sandvik for sponsoring the Kidd Pavilion.”
“Our company is extremely proud to be the exclusive fireworks sponsor at the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival,” added Richard Levert, president of Levert Group, which has been in the recruitment and staffing business for over 30 years. “Our relationship with Kidd Operations has actually been in existence for nearly five decades, and that partnership continues to grow. It’s a privilege to serve Glencore, and Timmins and surrounding communities.”
Perry Guibault, of Bull Powertrain and Driveline Centre said: “We would like to congratulate Kidd Operations on their 50th anniversary. We are proud to be a supplier and working partner with Kidd, along with many other local mines and we look forward to being here for years to come. We are pleased to support the Kiddzone children’s programming and we hope that all children, young and old, will have a fun-filled Kidd 50th anniversary celebration during the Kayak Festival.”
